“- People often feel that great communication is about what you say. That's only part of the answer. The truth is that the quality of what you say is profoundly influenced by how well you listen. So your listening skills ultimately have a lot to do with how you are perceived. Now, there are several useful tactics you can use to become a more effective listener, tactics that will help you hear the message better so you can respond more intelligently. First, remember, no multitasking. When you're trying to listen, don't read the report, look at your phone, or send a text. Just listen. Cognitively, your best chance of truly understanding someone is to decide not to divide your attention. So when someone else is speaking, look at them. Stop other activities and listen.
