PPE for the operator:
- Disposable gloves: The operator should wear gloves when carrying out the spray tan. Before putting on the disposable gloves, the operator should wash their hands. These gloves prevent the tanning solution from coming into contact with the operator's skin and also reduce the risk of cross infection.
- Dark coloured uniform: A dark coloured uniform is preferable.
- Dark coloured shoes: Dark coloured shoes are preferable to prevent tanning solution staining footwear. Shoes also prevent the solution from coming into contact with the skin of the feet.
- Face mask: Face masks should be fitted correctly so that they cover the nose and the mouth. Alternatively, you can use nose filters, and these fit snuggly into the nostril and filter out the aerosolised tanning solution.
PPE for the client:
- Face mask: The client's needs are different as their exposure to the sprayed products is much less than the operator. A mask can be provided for the client to wear while you are spraying the body. The mask will need to be removed when you spray the face. Disposable nose filters are also available for the client.
